I would like to comment on Dr. Monika Williams' article on Psychology Today 'Colourblind Ideology is a Form of Racism'.
Colorblindness is an approach to race ideology according to which the best way to eliminate racism is to treat everybody equally, regardless of their colour or race as if those differences didn't exist. According to the autor, this approach itself equals to racism.
And I must say that I agree 100%!
I guess all the international and interracial couples must be waisting their time then!
What should we do after ignoring the colors of our skins? Should we start forgeting the wonderful languages that we speak? Are we going to delete national identities also?
For us, international and interracial couples, race and colour are the very differences that contributed to attract one another. We should actually celebrate all the differences! Furthermore, being somehow different is a fundamental part of the alchemy that attracted us, and I wouldn't want my partner to be any different from who she really is!
Please, share your views on Colour Blindness.
